OK, the second cake decorating class was fun; we traced over stars, lines, words, and did Hershey kisses with icing. The hardest for me was tracing over the words. You got to have a steady hand. But, I managed to have my cake finished- take a look…. it was coconut cake with coconut icing and shredded coconut in the middle with icing. Can you guess I LOVE coconut!!! I added some rum too but I really couldn’t taste it; will have to add some more next time.

The second cake was from two weeks ago, when I went crazy and got all of the pans I could and baked the heart shaped cake… the heart is not too visible but you can get the idea. I need t add more ice cream next time to get the full effect. Besides that, it was delicious!!!

The X-Files

So, do you all remember The X-Files with agent Molder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson)? My question is; how did Scully’s strawberry red lipstick was always on? No matter what time of the day or night that girl had it all in place. I want to know what kind of put-on/stay-on 24/7 lipstick that is… anyone?

I love that show and I hope it comes back. But, I have a bone to pick and that is… how can anyone go on for several 24 hours episodes w/o ever sleeping and eating? And, their cell phones never stop working! I want to know who they have for their cell phone carrier LOL

Another great show, but why don’t they ever turn on the lights at the crime scene site? They are always using a little flash light. Does the flash light help with finding details on the ground or are they lazy? I know they have don’t want to touch anything around but they have gloves – so, what’s up with that?

I feel like I have neglected my blog for so long. I guess I just felt like doing some other things lately. As an example, I have been doing a lot of cooking and baking lately; but, it’s all out of my interest… LOL after 36 years I finally take a real interest in my kitchen!!! So, the baking is going great, as you can see from my cakes’ pictures. But, most importantly, I signed up for the Wilton Cake Decorating class with Michaels craft store. I baked a cake and made my own icing! Sky blue… see picture. The icing is not perfect, but it was my first time, I am sure it will just get better with practice. Well, tonight, I have my second class and we’ll be doing the decorating, I am so excited. Stay tuned, in a few days, I will be posting pictures of my master piece! The final decorated cake.

By the way, the class was very inexpensive, $21 for course 1, plus toll kit. But, you can get a 10% discount on every item once you signed up for the class. Also, the store gives out 50% discount coupons that you can use for you most expensive items. And, they will be having a promotion next month, so my second course will come up to only $7.50.

On another note, I was trying to save some money and decided to get a quote for my car insurance at CarInsurance.com and Progressive came about $330 / year cheaper than my current policy with State Farm. Well, I was battling between saving some money with Progressive, but possibly sacrificing the great customer service I have received from State Farm in the last 5 plus years. In the end, I decided to pay a little more but at least I am sure I am getting great service when I need it. I checked JDPower.com and State Farm has Better Than Most Rating for overall experience compared to Progressive with only About Average  I believe customer service wins every time, no matter what. I totally recommend State Farm for your car insurance.

Well, I never really buy frozen food anymore, but all of a sudden, I decided to get one the other day and left it in the refrigerator, at work. The next day, when I went to check the freezer and make sure my tasty Chicken Carbonara Lean Cuisine was there waiting for my lunch time… WHAT?? OH NO someone STOLE MY LEAN CUISINE. That was so wrong. How about respect and work ethics? Have we forgotten about all of that or have we never learned about it? Come on that was rude. I was really psyched about my lunch and I ended up with Wendy’s baked potato.

I just wish my office had a Terri Tater …

So, I went to see Sex and the City, the movie was great! It was fun, romantic, dramatic, and a happy ending! It did make me cry twice, just a few little tears. I just LOVED. Carrie looks great! How can you stay so thin at her age? Samantha still a fox and the life of the party; she finally got a little pooch, and you will see why LOL. Big was a BIG jerk, but in the end he makes up.

Well, I totally recommend, it’s a total girl’s night out movie, great locations and fashion, of course!

Also, there will be some good movies coming out this summer, another good girl flick is Mama Mia – you will see some of Greece in this one.

Don’t wait any more, grab you girl friends and go see Sex and The City, it’s awesome!

This afternoon I made an Angel Food cake that just turned out heavenly! It was so spongy and yummy. I actually made two cakes out of one box. It was a fat free Angel Food cake, but not so fat free after I added my icing! However, delicious; did I say that again 😉

I wanted to use my flexible heart shaped baking dish, but it wasn’t deep enough. So, I poured half of the cake mix in the heart shaped dish and the other half in my small round metal baking pan.  It was the first time I made Angel food cake and it turned out DELICIOUS! It was amazing to see it rise. Then, the best part was decorating the cakes.

The heart shaped Angel Food cake had strawberry fluffy icing and sliced strawberries! And, a few mini marshmallows, can you see it?

The second cake had cream cheese icing and shredded coconut. Plus, my frozen rose with sugar, the rose is just for looks. But, doesn’t it look pretty and so delicious. The Angel Food cake was very easy, just mix the powder and 1-1/4 cup of water; anyone can do it. It’s a great easy desert!
