Well, as I searched on Yahoo today, I notice the cute little “Cinco de Mayo” image with the girl dancing and the mariachi singers. But, in its rival Google, NOTHING YES NADAS, ZIP, NIET! I just couldn’t believe that. Google always puts on a nice graphic for every holiday and even had an art image last week for two days promoting its new feature for iGoogle. But, how about the Mexican holiday? This makes me think Google is anti-Mexican and can care less about celebrating their holiday. I wonder if there are any Mexicans working at Google? LOL, probably not.
I little Cinco de Mayo history here.
Even though Yahoo dropped its share by about 20% today, they still have a nice take about it all. And, why is Google not celebrating Cinco de Mayo? Do they think Mexicans don’t use their search engine, or are Mexicans not worth the effort of some Google graphic designer to come up with a little graphic on the site celebrating their holiday?
Props to Yahoo!! And, I am not even Mexican.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Haha.
i did find that strange consider all the other obscure holidays they promote with a special graphic. However, that being said I have no idea why us “gringos” celebrate it anyway. It’s so funny to go hit up a Mexican joint with your friends, eat and drink margaritas all the while being served by Mexican immigrants who really are supposed to be celebrating.
I’m GLAD google is being anti-cinco de mayo!!! We live in the UNITED STATES and already have to comply to their language and we’re also expected to celebrate THEIR Independance day?!?! So do they celebrate 4th of July in Mexico?! NO!!! I’m SICK of this country COMPLYING to all the ILLEAGLE immigrants while I go to work 40+ hours a week to pay for their food stamps and welfare!
AEM ,
Well, since Google is a global company and pretty much puts up banners on the search for anything and many ethnic holidays, I think that 5 de Mayo should also be considered; not b/c I celebrate; I don’t, but just to be fair. We are all entitled to an opinion! Thanks for stopping by.
it funny that you mention that becasue i noticed this last year and was so enraged that i myself contacted the company through email and to my suprise the responded and said
“Hello Erica,
Thank you for your email. I apologize for the delay in response. Thank you
considering Google as a diverse company. Let me assure you that it is one
and will continue to be one in the years to come. Believe me, users like
you do make a major contribution when you give us such feedback. I will
see to it that this idea is put forward and something positive is done in
this direction. You may see a decorated logo on May 5, 2009 to your
surprise.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to implementing this and
winning many more users and proving once again that Google is still
diverse.
Sincerely,
Swarna Sai
The Google AdWords Team” this is the email i got from them we should all get together and email them
Hi Erika – Amazing – they said it would be in 2009, but I just looked at Google and there is no Cinco the Mayo logo – Google lied.
[...] 5, 2009 by webbyzard Hey – check out this message from Erika, in my Cinco the Mayo post from last year – Google [...]
As far as Google commemoration other countries special days and ect, a simple search for “Google logos” will show you that they very often do.
I am also glad that Google has a backobone and not willing to kiss the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS behind, like so many of the people in this country. I think they need to be sent back to mexico and the children they have here on purpose so that they can stay should also go back with them.
We should not have to be forced to learn their language, like some schools are with the ENGLISH speaking children making them learn spanish. ILLIGALS need to learn to speak ENGLISH, this countries OFFICIAL language.
agree with illegal people theory, but Google celebrates so much crap that they should also do Cinco the Mayo to be fair.
